Hi Jim, Thank you for the welcome. You can call me Josh or Joshua. I have bigger worries than how people refer to me. haha. I am excited to have found this community. I really hope to find some productions that need an extra hand on set to bolster up my experience.
Thanks for catching the political discussion on the boards and for handling it so graciously. I'm on the road and didn't see it until your email brought it to my attention. Sharing the responsibilities of this "community endeavor" with you has been a wonderful experience because you are so proactive and willing to take on the tough tasks of monitoring and maintaining the order.
Though I appreciate Steve's passion and share his distaste for discrimination and intollerance, as you so graciously said in your reply, CASA is not the place for politics. I'm glad you were the first to read and respond to his post as it provided a nice buffer -- not only for Steve and the other members, but for me - the person who typically experiences the sudden release of steam from the ear holes when rules are broken (it's a Taurus thing and quite uncomfortable.)
I also appreciate the fact that I was allowed the opportunity to decide whether or not to push the nuke button. I just love those moments when the trigger finger quivers; when potential consequences project their realities into the multiverse and all the pro and con thought forms collide in the ole' noggin. Mmmmm...the smell of intellectual napalm in the morning.
The surviving thought form says "By allowing a political discussion to remain on the site we reward the bad behavior and encourage others to act in a similar fashion. Do we really want to encourage a trend of act now and beg forgiveness later?" Released from bondage with a loud report the quivering finger strikes the delete discussion key.
Yep, that's right... I deleted the entire discussion thread.
By the way, if anyone raises the freedom of speech flag and complains that we're censoring, remind them that self-censoring is something every member agreed to when they joined as a member. There's a big difference between "censoring" as a means of repression and "enforcing rules" as a means to keep our focus on topic and our mission statement on track.
Thanks so much for all your time and dedication to this community. You are a true philanthropist!
Thanks Jim. I've been using CASA forever for audition notices.... which is actually how I found out about the Jimmy Said auditions... and I finally decided maybe I should join. I really enjoyed the Jimmy auditions - I figure you guys have made casting decisions by now, but did email MaryLee about possibly getting involved with the production side of things - I have worked on several film projects behind the camera as well - in fact just finished shooting a short that I wrote, produced and acted in and we are in the process of editing right now! This is the second of two shorts that I have wrote and produced - Very exciting, fun and challenging... but it has only made me want to get more involved with film here in Colorado. So if you guys need any help with production stuff for Jimmy Said, let me know.
Thanks Jim... yes, I have another short that I shot about a year ago that I was considering submitting to the EFP, but I was waiting to hear back from some film fests who require premier status... And as soon as we get this next one finished we will be doing the same, so I will definitely be in touch with Patrick about the EFP soon.
Thanks for the warm welcome! Good to see you again, too. I guess this proves how long it's been since I last logged into CASA, heh. I did end up graduating back in September, so that's a relief. Have any upcoming projects you need help with?
You are so going to laugh at me......... I just watched "Stand Up Guy" this past Monday (i only saw it that once when it was being previewed many moons ago) and just now really understand about how my reactions where really sincere ;-) Hehehe!! Ahhhhh the good ol' days ;-)
Hope your doing well!!!
Because it's been years since we shot it ;-) I actually enjoyed watching it, I know almost everyone in it ;-)
I'm doing good, just got my new headshots from a shoot I did in June. Once I get them duplicated, I plan on sending them everywhere!! I am planning a trip to LA for a casting call the end of this month into August, well I am hoping ;-)
Hope your doing good! Are you done shooting yet?
