It is my understanding that the editing software in Final Cut Express is essentially the same as the editing portion of the Final Cut Pro Suite. I'm sure their are added features and capabilities in the Pro Suite, but FCE is a great editing program for under $200. Highly receommend the software, especailly if you don't have the money or computing power to purchase and run the Suite. I also recommend new (and old) users look over as many tutorials as possible. You never knwo what you don't know.

I would like to find a site or sites that do two things (for either Final Cut Express or Final Cut Pro): 1. Lists editing tasks you might want to accomplish (for example, "picture-in-picture" or "run your footage in reverse and in slow motion") and then describes how to accomplish that task. And 2., lists all of the filters and effects with a short description of what they do and what you could use them for. Any suggestions?

Don't know that this is going to do exactly that, but they are some of the best forums for Final Cut that I know of.

I also recommend Noah Kadner's DVD tutorials, although not all of them will apply. Noah also frequents DVXuser and Creative Cow along with Shane Ross. The are both experts on the FInal Cut workflow.

Finally, I would recommend the Denver FCPUG, which meets monthly at the Colorado FIlm School. SOme great resources there.
