We are excited to be coming back from our Summer hiatus with the Colorado Film Commissioner speaking at our meeting on September 6th. Already, we have hit our room limit and have gone to a waiting list.
For those of you who have RSVP'd, r u sure you will be attending the meeting? If your schedule changes, please change your RSVP so that someone else may attend.

Full Disclosure! I have never used crowdfunding to get a project off the ground, but I have watched many (contributed to a few) and most of them fail miserably.
Crowdfunding is a great tool and I have seen it used very successfully. But it is not magical. More often than not, it is used haphazardly and ineffectively. After dissecting the process, I have come up with a few tips that may seem obvious, but should be helpful.
1) Crowdfunding is an…Continue

I'm in need of FOUR actors; father, mother, two children (6-13) for a small spot shoot next week (July 24-25?)
Looking specifically for Arab/Middle-Eastern descent and coloring as the spot will be playing in those regions, not so much in N. America. So we can't fake it.
These are non-speaking roles (unless you have some native Arabic language skill.)
This is a paid gig with professional…

I need another male actor for a table read of a full feature film.
This is for no pay but will help a local writer with a final script. The date is the evening of July 28th.
Good News Alert! Boulder Filmmaking Incubator founder, Writer/Director Marianne Leviton, is batting 1000 in receiving grant funding for her feature doc, "A Line in the Sand." Ms. Leviton has written grant requests to multiple organizations and has not been turned…Continue

Tom Stohlgren is a scientist by day, and a novelist and screenwriter by night. His latest work of fiction, The Battle of the Black Hills, isn’t just a story where the Native Americans win, they win BIG! Lee Levinson, of Lee Levinson Productions (New York, NY) said, "Stohlgren is a master storyteller in this modern ‘Cowboys versus Indians’ tale destined to be a major motion picture." I know that everyone starts somewhere and I know that everyone has a right to their dreams, but can we please stop the ridiculous, unprofessional nonsense that makes so many of us look like idiots?
There are people who look at filmmaking as an activity; a pass time. The same way perhaps that some people bowl on Thursdays or play beer league baseball. That's awesome.
But there are others who bill themselves as professionals and act like idiots. They make crap over and…
A few years ago I challenged myself to create 30 new script ideas in 30 days. I wrote a little about that here, and there are some great comments and observations. Give it a read if you like.
But the last few years have taught me something about what the reality of trying to break into LA is like. Your great ideas and scripts are very…Continue
Filmmakers! Do you want to have more success raising funds... to create better content.... to be more fulfilled? Perhaps the secret to achievement lies in one small word, "WHY."
At last night's Incubator meeting, Arthur Martinez from Fresh Film News reminded me about a discussion I led on fundraising. He said it was inspiring and I should repeat it. Until that time, let me put some succinct thoughts out for you. What makes…
