WELL. Where do I even begin?
I did it. I landed a lead role in a feature film. We shoot in Punjab, India for two months…I leave in a month, at the end of September!
People keep asking how excited I am, if I’m jumping around all the time.
The answer is “no.” Yes, I’m excited–of course I am! But I haven’t…

Together with Matt Anderson of Film Forge Studios (Conifer, CO), I have filmed my first music video. The song is "This Too Shall Pass." The video is in final editing, and will be submitted to film festivals for late 2009 and early 2010. Thanks to Sam Urdank for taking the official still photos at the lake on Day #2 of the 3 day shoot. (Since it is being submitted to festivals, it will be a little while before it is available for public viewing.) This video turned out absolutely amazing--as did…

There is good and bad chatter on the Net regarding conference style expos and seminars for film industry folks. I am a positive person that sees any event as an opportunity. My approach is...do your homework and then jump in as an informed participant.
My limited experience is that networking receptions are often populated with people looking to advance their business, product, services or other personal goals. I plan to attend a screenwriting expo in LA this October. The event…

Hello,
I continue to mull over an idea of adapting a short story I read when I was a teenager. The original publication was 1900. Despite my scouring of the Net for a concise answer to my questions regarding rights and ownership, I remain empty handed. Does anybody know or can you direct me to where I may find some legal advice or a resource of basic rules? My guess is that because the work is over a hundred years old that the it may be fair game.
Does anybody out there…

In August, In the Loop welcomes the film score composers of "The Brothers Bloom," Nathan Johnson (formerly of Denver) and Denver-based China Kent, into the studio to talk about making music for movies. The international theater hit stars Adrien Brody, Mark Ruffalo, Rachel Weisz and Rinko Kukuchi. Danny Diaz of Modest Moose Productions is also in the studio with actor Rocky Romo and director of photography Tim Hardy. The three local filmmakers discuss the short “The Drama Kids” and the…

For those of you who aren't doing the Jo Edna Boldin workshop, please consider coming up to Fort Collins for the Trimedia Film Festival. Specifically, there are some live theatre events on Sat. the 12th, from 12-2 and 7-9, featuring many CASA members, including myself. I have 3 pieces in the festival -- two I wrote and am acting in during the 12-2 slot, and one I co-wrote and am directing in the 7-9 slot. Have a look at their webpage, www.trimediafestival.org, to see schedules, and find out…

(Not sure the links embedded below will work, since I just copied and pasted! If not, the link above will bring you to my actual blog!)
I’ve been trying to keep people updated via my Facebook statuses…unfortunately, certain people only catch certain updates, and some not at all. I wanted to hold off on writing a new blog, but…ah, who cares? I’m excited!
(Lots of links in here, for your learning pleasure! ;)…

Hello people! We need people or a scene of a political rally we'll be shooting between 5:30 and 7 [or so] here in Denver.
There's no pay, but should be fun.
If you're interested, let me know.

Hey folks, we are needing a few locations in the near future, and were wondering if you fine people might be able to help us out.
We need:
An office to be used as a politician's office.
A restaurant or coffee shop....not the whole thing, just one table and room for a light and a camera. Patio? We'll even do that.
A dentist or Doctor's office.
Let us know if you might be able to help us out.
Thanks for even thinking about…

Hello all, I figured I'd stop in mid-shoot on our film 'The Future Belongs to Undead Gods' to do a bit of ranting and raving.
First of all, let me tell you that I have been lucky [or is it luck?] to find such wonderful actors here in the Denver area. Some you know, some you may not.
Our lead, Kayla Farris is an absolute joy to work with. She manages to stay perfectly in character through the blood-soaked hardships one encounters in a horror movie shoot.
Steve Brown,…

You know how you see all of those interviews with celebraties and they always talk about how their family was so supportive? Well, what happens when your family isn't but your siginificant other is? Could there still be success? Could you still be successful with one person having your back? For some reason I care too much about what others think, in my family, and not having their support is driving me crazy!!
Since I was laid off in December, I have been looking for full time work.…

Howdy!
I am heading to the 2009 Screenwriting Expo LA in October. If you are attending I'd like to hook up and meet fellow screenwriters. Perhaps we can even meet beforehand to talk about marketing strategy or just inspire one another to press on.
Love to hear your ideas for connecting in LA or before.
