COMMERCIALS: "Owning The Audition"

Owning the Commercial Audition:

What will separate your performance from the other actors is …you.

I’m sure every actor, director and coach has used this expression, but what does “owning the audition” really mean? First, let me tell you what it does not…

Project Flip: Script and casting update.

So I tried to let Project Flip slowly die away, figuring nobody would remember what me and my big mouth said a few months ago. It's funny how many people remember something you said when they are sure you're going to fail and fail big in public!

So script is done (well, done enough to begin rewriting). I've already cast one role, have an invite out for another role and will soon be posting for at least two more roles. One location has been secured. I'm considering changing another…

Michael Brody's "Document" at the CU Atlas Screening Room!

I remember hearing about a movie in production about four or five years ago by Boulder filmmaker Michael Brody. I recently heard that after much effort, some serious re-edits, and years of hard work and perserverence, the movie is finally ready for its World Premiere!

If my memory serves me right (and honestly, does it ever?), several local actors have roles in the movie. I can't really comment on the qulaity of the movie since I haven't seen it yet, but I can say how much I…

THE DEAD ROSE feature film version is cast.

Hello Casa Members,

I do apologize about the mis communication, totally my fault, but the cast posting for our film THE DEAD ROSE is about a year old, and we have cast the majority of the lead roles.

So yes we cast very early in the pre-production process-, No it is not the sign of a unprofessional/ un prepared production. We did that for a very simple reasons to aid in the proecess of obtaining the funds, and to prepare for the production process in our own…

Boulder Digital Arts Teen Program for Digital Media

I just got an announcement that Boulder Digital Arts has put together a 10-week program in digital media, with what looks like a great line-up of classes. I know we have a lot of teenage members in CASA, so I thought I should pass this along.

I have taken several classes from BDA in the past and have been very satisfied with them. Here is the link:…

Celtic Music Needed for Student Film

We're looking for a musican who would like to be part of a student film project. The film was produced and submitted for a film class at the Art Institute of Colorado. To take the film to the next level, we need original music. This is a documentary about Crested Butte's Vinotok Festival and we anticipate the CB Tourism Office will use the film once we secure rights to music. We also want to submit the piece to student film festivals. Genre: Celtic.

Please reply and we can make…

Auditioning for Indies: Are you wasting THEIR time?

Out of fairness to the indie film makers, and in response my last post, "Auditioning for Indies: Are you wasting your time?", I must address the other side of the "two-way street."

PREFACE:

As a Casting Director, I know first hand the perception that many out of state producers and directors have of Colorado actors. Many…

CASA GA tomorrow Feb. 13th!

So, we've had a few people say they'd like to do a GA tomorrow (Feb, 13th)...I'll open the doors around 12:30 and we'll just make do with whoever shows up. I'll bring some pages from a couple of my projects. Would be good if others brought scripts they are working on.

I'll bring a few pages from my "Project Flip" short movie/promo project. I'm starting the process to cast a couple of roles, including 18-24 year-old feamle and an early 20's make.

Post here (or…

Need a composer for a short film

I have a short film I'm beginning to edit that is going to desperately

need a composer. The short is non-dialogue, and was written with the

intent that it would have a score that would greatly compliment the

images. The story, in short, is a series of vignettes that connect

many characters through the passage and journey of a hat. You can see

a trailer for it on my website, at… Continue

Sharing my acting secret weapons that I've learned...

Hey All Casa Peeps!

So as of today, I officially consider myself a working actor (And, a paid actor); YAY! Over the past 3-4 months I've been trying to get at the heart of what makes successful actors tick. Well, I've stumbled upon a lot of good information that has worked for me. I've used these as my secret weapons during auditions, classes, and gigs to give them a good overall opinion and I gotta say, yes these are some of the tools at the HEART of what makes a successful actor… Continue

Colorado work on the Incentives...please

Just watched the remake of Day of the Dead which was shot a few years ago with Mena Suvari. On cable at the same time was AVP: Requiem and both of them made me a little upset. They were both supposed to take place in small Colorado mountain towns (Leadville in DOD and Gunnison in AVP). I was upset because DOD was shot in Bulgaria and AVP was shot in British Columbia. It is about time that Colorado figure out the incentive game. New Mexico has figured it out. In fact there have been a number of… Continue
