student testimonials

"David's and Chad's training gives actors the confidence, outlook, and tools to consistently bring out their best, even in pressure packed situations."
~ Matthew Kyle, Actor

"I learned more in the last 3 months from David Dalton than I did with my last coach of 6 years."
~Luke Seven, Actor/Filmmaker

"(She) absolutely loves your class and has learned so much in such a short period of time. We have had many coaches ...and by far you are the best! Thanks so much for making her real!!!! "
~Paula, Mother. Regarding her daughter, 12 years old.

For years I’ve looked to teachers, directors and cast-mates hoping to find someone who could find that ‘little thing’ that would take my acting to the next level; David did that and more with my first monologue. I recommend studying with him to any actor; you will get more out of a couple months with David then you have out of years with most teachers.”
~Triffany Hammond, Actress

“David’s has made all the difference in the world to my acting and to me. The creations, lessons and tools David provided will help me for a lifetime. I see my path more clearly now… the difference is, I am moving along with more confidence.”
~Roxane Sondrup, Actress

“David rocks! He’s brought my auditions to a higher level. He explains things in a language you can understand. I always recommend David to my friends.”
~Theresa Downs, Actress

"Dave Dalton's Masters Class offers a fresh approach to acting. It helps the actor look beyond the surface of themselves, the characters they portray, and the scripts they read from. This class has helped me discover my unique qualities as an actress, and has taught me the importance of always bringing a piece of myself to every role. Dave's experience in the industry provides the actor with valuable advice and information.”
~Danielle Guba, Actress, New York

“David's programs are so much more than just a great acting workshop. It's a workshop for the whole actor. You get career counseling, a personality profile, and a deeper understanding of your own unique process and way of learning…If you can only afford one workshop, make it this one!”
~Kathryn Gould, Actress

AND...
“The combination of David’s experience, insight and talent provides actors with valuable information, which is necessary in any market.”
~Patty Kingsbaker, Radical Artists Agency

ACTORS: What should you expect if the Film Incentives pass?

Let's talk about this Film Incentive and what it means for actors if it passes. (Crew, we'll let you discuss this amongst yourselves).

First, let me lay this out there;

What I am saying here is my opinion based on my 35+ years of experience as an actor who has lived and worked here in Denver for most of that time and in Los Angeles for 10 years, as an acting coach who has had several discussions with (and hosted workshops for) casting directors from other major markets, and as…

Signing a Talent Release for a Movie Audition?

If a "big film" comes to Colorado and asks actors to submit their videotaped audition via an internet video site (like Youtube or Vimeo) along with a SIGNED RELEASE, IT CAN BE A READ FLAG. Be careful.

A talent release can often have language that states (generally) that ALL rights are given to the production company upon submission, which means they can use your audition tape in anyway, anytime, and anywhere they want ...for promotion and profit ...and no, you would never see a dime…

Casting Notices for Indies: Tips

By David Dalton

**ADDED 12/08/10

ACTORS: Pay attention to the audition notices. How information is conveyed can tell you a lot about the level of professionalism with that project. Although any producer can lie or "spin" the information to make their project look more appealing, you should… Continue

It's simple, SERVE THE STORY

By David Dalton

Lead Coach,

DS StudioWorks

I write shortly after our Tuesday Night Masters Class ends. I cannot express enough how proud I am of these amazing actors. I do not see them as a class, I see them as a brilliant ensemble. My coaching partner, Chad, and I struggle to find ways to challenge them each night they meet. They have met each challenge with enthusiasm and commitment. This group usually hangs around after class and… Continue
