A.J. Ager commented on Steve Kurtz's blog post Colorado Spotlight category at Indie Spirit Film festival
"This is a nice touch. My film I had to take (and get recognized) outside the state when the hometown Festival had no room for it. I like this type of category. Even a small recognition means a lot to budding film makers"

Darkness of Day an Award winner at 2011 Las Vegas International Film Festival

The feature film Darkness of Day, featuring exclusively Colorado (mostly Colorado Springs) actors and music from Colorado Bands, was an official finalist at the LVIFF. I  picked up the award July 17 at a ceremony in Vegas. Of the few films that finished ahead of DOD most had recognizable names in them and much bigger budgets. It is nice for a festival to recognize an orginal story and gave a sense of humor. They put on a class festival there and all the people are pretty nice.

Colorado work on the Incentives...please

Just watched the remake of Day of the Dead which was shot a few years ago with Mena Suvari. On cable at the same time was AVP: Requiem and both of them made me a little upset. They were both supposed to take place in small Colorado mountain towns (Leadville in DOD and Gunnison in AVP). I was upset because DOD was shot in Bulgaria and AVP was shot in British Columbia. It is about time that Colorado figure out the incentive game. New Mexico has figured it out. In fact there have been a number of… Continue

Watching new Raimi flick made me remember what I loved about the Evil Dead

Like many movie fans we've been waiting for Sam Raimi to make a Sam Raimi film for years. Not since Army of Darkness have we seen a Sam Raimi film. You could pull parts out of the Spiderman movies of things that were very Raimi, A Simple Plan and For the Love of the Game are actually very good flicks also, but nothing like Army of Darkness or Darkman. So I went and watched Drag me to Hell I was excited. There are plenty of people that may watch this flick and not get what the rest of us that… Continue

MEMENTO

The other night I was flipping around the tube and ran across one of my favorite movies ever Memento. I believe that anybody who is looking to become a screenwriter should watch and study with this movie. For those who haven't seen this flick, it is a movie by Christopher Nolan about a man with amnesia who is trying to solve his wife's murder. The story is actually told chronilogically backwards. Now I happen to agree that all screenwriters should learn the three act structure inside and out.… Continue

The Academy gets Something Right

Throughout possibly the worst Academy Award ceremony ever where we watched Hugh Jackman personally bomb the next wolverine movie before it even comes out, the Academy got something right. They honored Heath Ledger. It is rare that a performance is so good that it actually inspires people to want to act. After watching the Dark Knight you could just get that feeling that there were people signing up for theater and acting classes all over the country because you could tell Heath Ledger had a… Continue

Welcome to the new CASA site A.J. The move from our old MSN site to this Ning site has led to a revitalization of sorts, and I think you'll like it here.

Take a look around, explore the forums and "corners" and try out the different ways of communicating. To send a private message, click on a photo and then "Send a Message" a few lines below. Or you can add a comment on another person's page, which can be viewed by anyone, and there's also a Chat feature, which is public (unless you initiate a private chat. You can also customize the look of your page using themes by going to the Settings button in the upper right area of your page (then go to Appearances).

Feel free to upload industry related photos and video to your page as well.

Enjoy!

I have 2 feature scripts that are registered with the Writers' Guild of America Intellectual Property Registry, and I've been seeking a producer for the films since their completion. Any chance you could look at them some time? If so, please email me. I would appreciate any help you could render.
