Hello Jim, thanks for the invite. Having been around productions for several years and also having a BFA in Film Production, I am always happy to assist with any questions that may come up (If I know the answer of course). I also ran the equipment cage at the Colorado Film School for several years, so I have a pretty good understanding of certain pieces of equipment. Just let me know how I can help.

Hi everyone!

I've built my own video/audio editing suite at home on the cheap, so I've some experience on how build things up from nothing on the very cheap.

Also, I have a BS in Audio Engineering from UCD, but I don't do sound for a living now (long, boring story).

I'm looking forward to contributing!

Hello Jim and Crew, and thanks for the invite.

I come here to learn and will keep my mouth shut most of the time in order to facilitate that process. I bring a great willingness and hopefully some natural talent that remains to be seen, several college degrees and years of hands on experience in areas that have nothing to do with the film industry -but may prove transferable.

I really do consider it a privilege to be here among you all.

I'm looking to potentially get a new camera this upcoming Christmas. Looking at the Canon GL2, but I'm VERY interested in getting input at reviews of anything you guys know. I'm looking to have something pretty professional in quality, and something I can start filming my projects with very soon. Thanks for all your help in advance!

Trent, I posted something in this thread about the GL-2

Thanks for all the information. I'm going to look into the DIVX, but you've got a lot of great points about WHY as well. I guess I'm figuring since I have so many film ideas and really want to get things going, getting a camera will toss me into the mix faster, and force me to do it. Maybe I'll stick with my Handicam for a while though. :-/

Why not partner with someone that has a camera? Not only will it give the chance to see how that camera works, but you can make a movie or two in the meantime.

I shoot with a DVX all the time, and there are still days when I look at footage and say Wow!
