I've always been fascinated by the way music is utilized to adjust the audience's perception of a scene. Perhaps a discussion about the psychology behind the music would be fun. For instance, what instruments elicit the most profound suspense? Has this changed throughout the decades? What are some examples from movies.

I've started a "Getting Started" post that discussing many different aspects related to working as a composer-sound designer in this industry. I'll also be answering any questions posted and would love input from other pros!

Here it is! The teaser trailer for "The Tarryall" -- a western independent film that I have the lead role in.

http://www.filmforgestudios.com/Trailers/The%20Tarryall.html

Production is nearly complete, and the film will emerge from post sometime in the late spring of 2010. Be sure to visit this site, and if you are on Facebook, be sure to look up the fan page and become a fan! (Oh, and I wrote/recorded the music for this trailer, and will be scoring the film! Great opportunities!)

Hi everyone,
My name is Bryan Dennis and I am a Denver-based musician looking to connect with some of the very talented filmmakers that are here in Colorado. My primary instrument is the guitar (acoustic, electric, folk) but I have also dabbled in percussion, keyboards, bass, orchestral, and some vocals. However the more I sing, the more I realize that I'm a guitarist. I write and record my own original music and assist other local artists with arrangement and production. I have various tastes and influences in music and I am fairly adept at writing in several genres. My day job is working in a very well equipped recording studio where I have been engineering for the last several years. If you would like to hear some of my work, please visit my CASA page, RockMeDenver.com or give me a call at 303-294-1114.(sorry...no I won't sing you a song over the phone) - but I will gladly show you around our studio and talk "shop" any time. Thank you for reading this and I wish you all the very best.

My name is David Bogue. I like to consider myself a composer. When I started playing, I was into bands like Aerosmith, Rocks was there latest when I was introduced to them to give to a time frame. Kiss, Alice Cooper, Ted Nugent, Kansas, Went heavier through the 80s, Then opened up to the emotional side if things. Now I'm into everything from Tori Amos to Marilyn Manson. I play the piano more then anything anymore and have written, in my opinion, some of my best, and things that would work great for those emotional scenes. I'm actually hoping to get in the studio and record with Brian Dennis (below) an Haylar Garcia. I have a home studio where I have done 90% of my recording so far. I'm anxious to work with two guys. I'm very impressed with what they have, and what they have done, their status in the entertainment community and their willingness to reach down to someone like me with a helping hand. Some of my home demo stuff is here

I too, am looking to work with film makers. But I want to do much more then music. I want to do it all. Work with lighting, sound, watch the camera crews, directors. But most, I want to edit. I have great digital audio skills and have no doubt I can dive right into video. I will act as a servant if I have too, just to be there. So keep me in mind...... Please
