Colorado Actors Scripts And Films

Free Support and Outreach for Colorado's Filmmaking Community

Right now, we have three people (other than Darla and me) signed up to attend the October GA. There's just no way this is a workable number of people for a GA. I understand the reasons why people quit attending in 2008, but over the last year, we really haven't seen attendance come back to the numbers that make the GA work. At this point, I'm seriously tempted to cancel the General Assemblies.

Do you hundreds of CASA members want the GAs to continue? Will you attend them? Is there some change we can make to lure you back?

I really need to hear some feedback, and know that someone is going to attend.

Personally I don't feel welcome anymore. I used to attend to brush up on cold reading skills. I suffered a major head injury and needed neck surgery, that held me back for almost a year. I'm still trying to overcome these injuries, but feel less of a member as I do an outsider.
So, the drive from Colorado Springs doesn't seem appealing to me if I'm left to feel less than welcome.
Steve
Sorry to hear about your injuries Steve. What was it that made you feel like an outsider?
Sorry about your injuries.I did not know you had been hurt. The last time I saw you was at the Schmoozer, and we all had a great time talking about our various projects.
Take care and feel better.
Personally, I have found the General Assemblies to be very valuable to me through the years, in practicing my craft as an actor. I've met many talented and wonderful people there. (I can't be there tomorrow as I have a nasty cold.) Perhaps quarterly meetings might be better attended. I'd hate to see the end of CASA's GAs!
Hi,
I know I'm just a kid and my mom helps me with these replies but I just wanted everyone to know that my first GA meeting was a great experience for me. Even though I wasn't feeling my usual spunky self, being nudged through my monologue was something that will help me develop as an actor. The feedback was helpful. I hope mom can take me to these meetings regularly because this is what I have been looking for. The opportunity to hear from different coaches, directors and producers on how to improve my skills and to see how I can improve by watching others. With this Assembly along with my other classes and experiences, I think I will be able to help other actors young and old. And I am always willing to help film makers who need a kid like me for their projects. So please don't cancel the GA meetings. I am trying really hard to get my acting classmates to attend these as well. I hope to see more people from casa there. What if everyone attending the meetings reminded the people on their friends list a couple of days before about the meetings. Maybe there would be a better turnout.
So, after all the discussion, how did the October GA turn out? Did I miss the best one of the year? That would be just my luck.
It was small but good. A nice time for my last CASA GA.
Are you moving away, handing over the reins, or just not planning to attend any more?
I'm with Todd on this one. I'm not trying to get personal (feel free to send me a virtual slap if it seems that way...heck, you can give me a real one if you like), but are you making some sort of change, or are you just unable to keep attending?
Screw Hitchcock, it seems our dear Karen is the master of suspense...
Hey, what's happening? Is there a November GA or not? Thanks.
Well, Karen is no longer hosting it, but I don't know if she passed the torch or not.
