Permalink Reply by Jace Orio on July 16, 2011 at 2:29pm Oh well thank you man.
I just have a few questions...
Whats a good way to just practice?
Do you have any pointers on not getting nervous?
What kind of techniques do you have that i can use?
Thank you. Hope to hear from you soon.
Permalink Reply by Luciano Munoz III on July 16, 2011 at 8:52pm Pick up a monologue book and do scene work for each of the monologues, then film yourself doing each one over and over again and try to add something new or change something each time, and I don't mean just the way you say something but change the character work each time.
I meditate, I would suggest doing that some to help you master your focus and ability to focus and control your mind and body!
Well there is a lot that I do and I usually approach each role with different techniques, usually I'll analyze the script first and then find my characters role within the film then figure out the background of my character and then relationships, my characters viewpoint, and what the character knows about himself, and is not willing to admit to himself. I then figure out overall objective, scene objective, and line objective(action verb). ETC. Once I do all the scene work I usually spend some time and meditate with music until I'm calm, once calm the ambient music continues to play and I reconstruct the memories, relationships, viewpoints and just try to make the characters world as believable as possible to me. That's usually how I start. Hope it can help some!

And I was recently suggested a book called "The Power of the Actor" by Ivana Chubbuck I haven't read it yet but it's suggested highly! I just requested it from a library! Hope it'll help me, maybe it can do the same for you too!

Very few people don't get nervous. It's normal. Instead of focusing on trying not to be nervous, I try to use that energy--channeling it through the character and performance.
