Slingshot Productions will be holding auditions for “SCARLET LETTER...the MUSICAL” which will be presented at PACE with 5 performances September 13-16. Rehearsals will begin August 21, 2012.  Regional theater representatives will be invited to these performances.

 

Auditions will be Saturday, May 12, 2012, 11:00 AM with the last slot at 5:50 PM.

Actors should prepare 16-32 bars of lyrical music that shows range.  Accompanist will be provided.  No pre-recorded tracks or a cappella songs accepted. A sample of the style of music may be heard at www.scarletletterthemusical.com

Seeking experienced performers with strong singing and acting with good movement abilities.  This is a work in progress, please bring a positive attitude to rehearsals. Some Equity contracts available; must bring current Equity card.  Pay for all roles. 

 

ROLES MALE

   ARTHUR DIMMSDALE, to play 25-35,  Pious Puritan Reverend with a secret – high Baritone/Tenor

   ROGER (PRYNNE) CHILLINGSWORTH, to play 45-60  Doctor of apothecary on the hunt for the man who wronged him -- Baritone

   GOVERNOR BELLINGHAM, to play 30-50 Governor of Puritan town in Boston; stern yet compassionate --Baritone

   JOHN WILSON, to play 30 or older, Puritan Minister who lives by strict Puritan laws -- Baritone/Tenor

   TOWNSPEOPLE, 5 men needed to be various roles. – all voices

   YOUNG BOY, to play under 10, must sing well. Experience a plus.

 

ROLES FEMALE:

   HESTER PRYNNE, to play 18-28, Woman in love, vulnerable and has a young daughter, but who is strong enough to endure the town’s persecution.  (mezzo soprano)

   YOUNG COMPASSION, to play 25-35 A woman of the town who questions the town’s wrath and respects Hester  (soprano)

 

  THE DIFFERENTS, to play 18-25 Three woman labeled by the town as witches, because they follow their desires for art, beauty, song and men.  Must also be strong dancers. (one alto, one mezzo, one soprano)

  PEARL, Hester’s daughter, to play 7. Must sing well. Experience a plus.

 TOWNSPEOPLE: 3 women for various roles.  (alto, mezzo, soprano)
